Our topic this month for our Trends and Changes in ICT Series. is "IPTV, - The opportunities and challenges of delivering enhanced TV Services” by Marc Savoie, Director Product Development, Mariner Partners. IPTV, for the uninitiated, is telephone companies' main weapon against cable companies, who have been poaching away their bread and butter - phone customers - for years now. The phone companies are going to fight fire with fire by offering television and the thing with IPTV is, it combines some of the functionality of computers and the Internet with the TV, which makes for some pretty cool possibilities.

Marc will discuss the trends and service opportunities that lie ahead for service providers to offer enhanced Television services over the new converged networks. He will also discuss the operational challenges and pitfalls associated with delivering these new services.

Marc Savoie, Director Product Development, Mariner Partners. As Director of Product Development, Marc is responsible for managing the delivery of new products focused on Digital TV and Telecom. He joins Mariner Partners from Nortel Networks where he spent over a decade working in various technical and leadership roles in research and development for the optical and data networking product lines.
